Update auf aktuellen Linux Kernel (v4.6.5) empfohlen

Beim Start von Debian Jessie (Linux Kernel v3.16) auf dem SuperMicro X10SDV-TP8F kommt es zu einer Reihe von Fehlermeldungen beim Boot.

Ausgabe von lspci aktualisieren

lspci ist ein sehr wertvolles Werkzeug. Ab und zu sind die Ausgaben aber nicht ganz stimmig mit den Meldungen aus z.B. dmesg. Dafür gibt es in Debian das kleine Hilfswerkzeug update-pciids was lspci mit frischen Informationen versorgt. Gerade die Information zu den 10 GbE Schnittstellen auf diesem Supermicro Board ist wesentlich informativer: Intel Corporation Device 15ac vs. Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection X552 10 GbE SFP+

DHCP

Um sich das Leben bzgl. DHCP etwas einfacher zu machen, installieren wir zwei Tools:

benny@debian:~$ sudo apt-get install tcpdump dhcpdump

Den „Vendor Class Identifier“ (Option 60) braucht man häufig um die Geräteklasse/-typ eines anfragenden Geräts zu identifizieren. Ein OmniSwitch 6450-P10 fragt wie folgt an:
